Hertford Office Park’s new Block K finished with Italtile Commercial’s LiveGreen style.

A stone’s throw from the massive Waterfall City precinct development, the brand new flagship Block K in the 70 000 sqm Hertford Office Park is all set to become an iconic landmark in Waterfall. AAA-Grade status has been awarded, thanks to top quality, ultra-modern design, smart energy-saving features, along with backup power and backup water, latest generation security, building services and ample parking.

Abland Developers collaborated with MWLF Architects and Probest Projects. A future-facing green building of this calibre demanded beautiful, sustainably manufactured, state of the art finishes, and to this end, the consortium reached out to Italtile Commercial, with their rigorously audited LiveGreen ethos.

Gerda Retief, Italtile Commercial’s Gauteng Agent, worked on the brief to supply a range of contemporary porcelain tiles to elevate the building’s angular, urban aesthetic. Gerda selected exclusive porcelain tiles by Stylnul and Baldocer Ceramica, both Spanish tile manufacturers well known for their innovation and impeccable green credentials. Stylnul’s innovative INOUT technology offers a velvety-textured surface with remarkable slip-resistance. Baldocer Ceràmica is renowned for their new B/Healthy technology, with new glazes which guarantee anti-microbial protection for a healthier environment.

Gerda added a local tile range manufactured by eco pioneers Gryphon, with their world-leading EcoTec technology. This creates thinner, lighter, yet stronger tiles (up to 55% stronger than required standards) that utilise less clay and require less water per sqm as well as a shorter firing process with reduced fuel.  

To finesse the tile installations, Gerda recommended specialist tile adhesives by Eezee Tile, as well as customised stair treads and step edges by Della Terra.
