ITALTILE BRINGS A REFRESHING LIVEGREEN TOUCH TO WESSA/EEASA 2023 CONFERENCE AT GLENBURN LODGE & SPA.

Italtile’s rigorously sustainable mandate, under their LIVEGREEN banner, has seen the company forging synergistic connections with both sustainable manufacturers and eco-centric organisations to find shared pathways to a cleaner, greener future, not just for customers, but also for vulnerable communities and environments. WESSA (The Wildlife and Environment Society of South Africa) and Italtile have partnered in a number of immersive learner education days over the years: supporting projects like river clean-ups, waterwise studies and tree planting.

On 18 September 2023, WESSA, in association with EEASA, the Environmental Education Association of Southern Africa, kicked off their annual conference at the Glenburn Lodge and Spa, with 200 local and international delegates.

The event included a carefully curated programme of thematic workshops, meetings, and seminars facilitated by South African and international delegates and guest speakers, to explore and interrogate the theme of "Education, Advocacy, and Action to Advance ESD in Southern Africa”. These individuals represent a consortium of global affiliate organisations deeply committed to the enhancement of environmental education and sustainability initiatives in the Southern African region.

In line with the overarching ethos of sustainability, LiveGreen Italtile supplied glass water bottles for the duration of the conference, from 18 – 22 September; a seemingly small contribution, but one which served to remind delegates of the crucially important role of recycling in the green agenda. The gesture meant that literally thousands of plastic water bottles were ‘avoided’. In fact, during one of the conference sessions about plastic pollution, attendees roughly calculated how many plastic bottles were avoided by using the glass water bottles – a minimum of 2 400!

Italtile is extremely proud to be a part of the ESSA member network and deems it a privilege to be given the opportunity to play a small part in the restoration and maintenance of the planet’s precious green lungs.
