Italtile Unpacks New Hamilton By Gryphon. Eco-Chic, Ultra-Sophisticated And On-Trend

April 26, 2023

As many designers have noted with satisfaction, beige has been patiently waiting in the wings for its moment. For 2023 and beyond, it’s been firmly established as the designer neutral of choice, with any number of ultra-sophisticated iterations, from pale cappuccino foam to deep chocolate. Beige, we’re reliably informed, is the new grey. A home featuring beautifully layered beige tones sells fast. It’s a natural aesthetic that’s easy on the eye and creates instant calm. UK Homes and Gardens will tell you that “the beauty of a neutral scheme is that it provides a wonderful scaffold upon which to hang accents of colour”.

Italtile’s new large format Hamilton Ivory, a 590 x 1190 polished porcelain floor tile is just such a “scaffold” and brings all the values of an elegant beige to the party. With its exquisitely varianced and marbled stone looks, finished with a shimmering gloss, it is designed to lay the foundations of flawless class and welcoming warmth in both classic and contemporary spaces.

Hamilton Ivory is a rectified tile, 8mm thick; its consistent sizing will enable precision installation with a grouting gap of 3mm. Minimal grouting lines mean easier cleaning as well as a near seamless look. Italtile always strongly suggests the use of specialist adhesive for large format tiles like Hamilton. Because this is a high gloss tile, we recommend the installation of dirt traps at entrances to minimise scratching.

Hamilton Ivory is a Proudly South African product made by leading sustainable tile manufacturers Gryphon, the pioneers of EcoTec. This is a new technology that makes lighter, stronger tiles, with reduced clay, water and energy used from end to end.

Less clay is required for EcoTec tile bodies; and yet, strength-wise, an EcoTec tile is between 24% and 55% stronger than SABS SANS 1449 MOR standards. Lighter tiles like Hamilton Ivory require less energy during firing. Less water per square metre is used throughout the manufacturing process. Once packaged and loaded, lighter EcoTec tiles reduce on-road fuel use.

Hamilton Ivory is exclusive to Italtile and, with its seriously green credentials, will carry Italtile’s LiveGreen logo. Partnering with like-minded sustainable suppliers like Gryphon raises Italtile’s green credentials and is one of the reasons why Italtile is a proud member of the Green Building Council of South Africa.
