From the step ladder to the corporate ladder

Italtile nurtures staff to higher levels Imagine if you found an employer that offers you opportunities for growth and development as a standard – without asking. Italtile is so customer centric that it has training programs that run permanently to upskill all staff in all areas of the company. We realise that excellence is the key to success – and nothing less will do. Italtile offers opportunities for those who are willing to put in the hard work and attention to detail, so that they may get off the step ladder and onto the proverbial corporate ladder.

As a showcase of this, Italtile has recently sent all sales and marketing advisors on an internationally accredited decorating and design course with Chapters Interior Design Company. Chapters operate throughout Southern Africa and are run by interior designers who wish to nurture creative and design orientated individuals to elevate standards within the industry.

Chapters Interior Design Company is a member of The Association for Private Practitioners for Education, Training and Development (APPETD); The Green Building Council of South Africa (GBCSA) and City & Guilds UK. The course with Chapters took staff members through various facets of decorating principals over many months and then put the skills to the test with an incentive that could not be ignored. The competition entailed choosing from three detailed scenarios that depict typically, yet vastly differing customer types that the industry presents. After completion of the project, the entrants were narrowed down by managing directors Paul Couzis and Sergio Galli. The final stage of judging was done by three prestigious judges: Melanie Ewing – Owner and founder of Chapters Interior Design Company; Mary Jane Harris - Editor Garden and Home and Roderick Laka – Art Director – House of Brave Advertising.

Totalling 17 prime selected boards from across South Africa, the winner of the aspirational prize is Willem Pretorius from Italtile Nelspruit Commercial Division and he will be rewarded for his efforts with a trip to the Cersaie exhibition in Italy, from 25 to 29 September 2017. This trade fair sees over 900 exhibitors from over 35 countries showcase the latest in design and technology of the ceramic and sanitary industry. Cersaie is an opportunity for the winner to realise first-hand the scope of design and trends set out on a global scale. This will, in turn, allow them to transfer this knowledge and design savvy to their sales advisory work. Oh, and have a little bit of down time too! All runner ups will receive a prize dedicated for their efforts in the inspiring submissions.
