Italtile Commercial partnered for the first time with the Department of Business Management at Stellenbosch University to provide the third-year BCom Marketing Management students with the incredible opportunity to gain practical sales experience through their Marketing Management module.
This experience was concluded with a prize-giving ceremony hosted in the Schumann Building at Stellenbosch University on 3 September 2019. Top performers in the module were rewarded for their commitment and dedication shown throughout the semester. After an application and interview process, 7 students were awarded internships with Italtile for the remainder of 2019 and, if successful, could be awarded full-time positions for 2020. The 7 students awarded with internship positions were:
- Dannika Essl
- Alexander Searle
- Sinethemba Mathunjwa
- Kyla Van Zyl
- Laura Shamley
- Janco Marais
- Dylan Oosthuyse
Further prizes were given to the top 3 applicants, with the top applicant being awarded a grand prize of R10 000. Third place was awarded to Laura Shamley who was surprised with her position, but said it meant that all her hard work paid off. She joked that she even attempted to sell tiles to her university friends as practice.
Second place was awarded to Janco Marais. He says working with Italtile was “a real honour” and “blessing”. He is very excited to join the Italtile team!
The most admired prize of the day – the first place prize of R10 000 – was awarded to Dannika Essl. She described this assignment as “challenging” and felt that it allowed her to gain a wider perspective on what is to come in the future.
Italtile Ltd look forward to welcoming all the 2019 interns to the team and wish them great success in their careers going forward.
