THIS CONTEMPORARY CAMPS BAY HOME WITH TIMELESS APPEAL IS A STUDY IN UNDERSTATED ELEGANCE
The Laing family is as warm and inviting as the stylish house they call home. Perched on the slopes of Lion’s Head with expansive views of the Atlantic Ocean, this Camps Bay abode is a testament to the exacting eye and organisational smarts of Sharen, the delightful family matriarch.
Sharen’s decor objective was to create interiors that were as uncluttered and streamlined as possible. She chose a pared down colour palette of black, white and steel grey, the perfect foil for this sun-drenched home with its easy indoor outdoor flow for everyday living.
Sharen’s attention to detail is evident throughout the house, from bespoke steel drain covers to the easy-to maintain fittings and tiles she selected. Choosing Italtile as her supplier was a no-brainer. “We did a very similar project when we lived in Johannesburg and had excellent service from Italtile’s Bryanston branch, so we decided to use Italtile in Cape Town” says Sharen. Renovating can be a stressful undertaking, but everything went according to plan despite the owners being off site for a month. “Italtile’s Johan Kemper was our point of contact and he was just brilliant”, says Sharen. “He was always willing to assist, and thanks to his extensive product knowledge he was able to contribute constructive ideas to what would look good in the house. Johan was often on site to give advice and make sure that the sanitaryware was correctly installed. He even put me in touch with the best tiler I’ve ever worked with. Now that is impressive after sales service!”
